Firefighters from Farmington and Harrington were called for a structure fire around 10pm Thursday on Flat Iron Road west of Harrington. Crews arriving at the scene found a fully involved barn fire with exposures. Multiple fire companies from Kent and Sussex County were called to assist or provide backup. A tanker task force was called. Firefighters were on the scene for nearly 4 hours and the Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.  

UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified 62-year-old Richard Jobes, of Harrington, as the victim in the murder-suicide that occurred near Harrington. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Richard Jobes, II, also from Harrington, committed suicide during the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred early this morning near Harrington. According to DSP, troopers responded to Whiteleysburg Road near Harrington at about 3:00 this morning following the report of two unresponsive individuals in a ditch. When troopers arrived, they found a 62-year-old man with a gunshot wound, and a 36-year-old man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
