Several events are happening in the Pioneerland libraries in Meeker County in September. Red Rooster Days will be celebrated this weekend in Dassel. Many fun events are planned including the largest chicken BBQ in the state on Labor Day. Ron Hungerford says there will be a farmer’s market on Friday afternoon and then several events on Saturday including a 16-mile bike ride at 9 a.m., a 7-mile bike ride at 9:30, a petting zoo in Reed’s Park at 1:30, the parade at 2 p.m., followed by an ice cream social at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, and the coronation at 6 p.m. at Saints Ball Fie

93-year-old AUGUST GILBERT (“AUGGIE” / “UNCLE GUS”) ANDERSON of Litchfield passed away on Thursday August 27, 2026 in Dassel. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday September 12, 2026 at the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
