Ingham County prosecutors allege 24-year-old David Gaines Jr. punched 20-year-old Caleb Shermoe in the face outside an East Lansing restaurant in January 2025, causing him to fall and hit his head. Denby served three terms in the Michigan House, between 2009-2014. She also served 16 years on the Handy Township Board, eight years as clerk, and eight years as supervisor. Gatherings at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Fowlerville are set for 4-6 pm Monday and 10-11 am Tuesday, followed by a celebration of life at 11 am. M

The earliest start date is this Wednesday, August 19th for students in Howell Public Schools and Hartland Consolidated Schools. Pinckney Community Schools and Fowlerville Community Schools begin their new academic years on Monday, August 24th. Finally, classes resume for Brighton Area Schools following the Labor Day holiday on Tuesday, September 8th.

Deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office were dispatched shortly after 12:30pm Friday to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Fowlerville Road and Chase Lake Road. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 22-year-old Howell woman was traveling west on Chase Lake Road in a 2014 Kia Forte when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign/intersection.
