BATON ROUGE — A police officer shot a man who was threatening people while holding a rifle Sunday evening, Baton Rouge Police Chief TJ Morse said. Morse said officers were called to the Jaguar Plaza apartment complex along Harding Boulevard shortly before 6 p.m. He said when officers arrived, the man threatened them with the weapon. "They had to take action to defend their lives and shot him," Morse said. The chief said the man was taken to a hospital and h

BATON ROUGE - Southern University lost power Sunday while crews repaired a transformer. A message sent out shortly after 6:45 p.m. said that internet and WiFi on campus might also be affected by the intermittent outages. WBRZ previously reported that Southern was closed Tuesday due to a campus-wide outage.
