ERIE — Cynthia Marie Beachner, 78, of Erie, died Saturday, May 30, 2026 at her home. She was born March 1, 1948 at Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of Webster Rice and Lottie Marie Yancey. Her step-father, Leonard Crump, also helped raise her. She grew up in Kansas City and attended school there, graduating from Central High in 1966. She and Clarence White were united in marriage.

Francis E. “Gene” Volmer, 87, of rural Parsons, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Freeman West in Joplin. Francis Eugene Volmer was born on Dec. 9, 1938, to Francis A. and Mary Lorean (Nunnick) Volmer at the family farm northeast of Parsons. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School in Parsons. From 1958 to 1968, Gene worked for Beachner Construction.
Darlene Williams, 86, of Parsons, passed away at 7:31 a.m., Saturday morning, June 20, 2026, at her home in Parsons. She was born on Nov. 9, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to Thomas and Joy (Pingree) Cutshaw. She grew up in Mulberry, Kansas, and attended schools there, graduating from Mulberry High School in 1958. Darlene and Cecil Williams were married on May 10, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma.
Andre K. Thompson, 65, of Parsons, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, at his home. Andre Kirk Thompson was born on March 15, 1965, to Leodis and Addie Lee (Neal) Thompson in Wichita. He grew up and attended school in Wichita. For 25 years, Andre worked as a floor tech at Labette Health.
Leroy Ben Myers, 97, longtime farmer and stockman in Labette County, died at 12:50 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Elmhaven East Nursing Home. He was born March 13, 1929, in the rural Dennis area, to William Henry Myers and Naomi Edna (Cortner) Myers. The family moved north of Altamont and he attended Blue School.
Sue Powell, 89, passed away peacefully at Heritage Home in Pinedale, Wyoming on Nov. 20, 2025. She was born on June 21, 1936, to Lee and Edyth Hutsell, being named Margaret Sue Hutsell, and raised in Maryville, Tennessee. She had three older brothers named Charles, Bill, and Jim; and one older sister named Aileen.
Vincel Lee Burke, 89, of Rural Parsons, died at 10:28 a.m., Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Labette Health. He was born Feb. 23, 1937 to Andy and Hazel Viola (Burke) Tate. He grew up and attended school in the Wichita, Kansas, area. He later moved to Parsons, where was lovingly embraced into Charles and Shirley Greenwood's family in 1959. He spent sixty-five plus years farming and being the most loving son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
Darvin D. Gilliland, 70, of Parsons, passed away at 9:41 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Darvin Dale Gilliland was born on August 5, 1955, to Harold Leroy and Edith Mae (Wallace) Gilliland in Eldon, Missouri. He grew up and attended school in Chetopa, where he graduated from Chetopa High School. Following high school, Darvin joined the Marines and served his country in the Vietnam War.

Arnella spent her early years in eastern Kansas before moving with her parents to Jetmore, Kansas in 1952.
