Three Amish children were hurt when a vehicle hit the back of their horse and buggy in Elkhart County. The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, on State Road 13, just south of County Road 32, south of Middlebury. A Middlebury woman has been sentenced after a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian. The Goshen News reports Kaila Himes was driving on U.S. 20 in January 2023 when her vehicle left the road and struck a man as he checked his mailbox. Himes tested positive for THC and told police she had a vape pen. The man suffered several serious injuries. Himes was sentenced to five years, with three suspended to probation.
