Ripon, CA

STOCKTON – Ripon never trailed Wednesday night to open the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II water polo playoffs with a 14-10 win over Woodcreek at Cortopassi Aquatics Complex.

Ripon and Ripon Christian have long been adversaries in other sports, but the fledgling football feud has some catching up to do.

Ripon Christian had no answer for second-seeded Nevada Union’s prolific front line and stingy defense on Tuesday in a 15-25, 7-25, 15-25 loss in Grass Valley.

For the fifth straight postseason, Ripon will play for a Sac-Joaquin Section championship after they cruised to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 straight set victory over Roseville on Tuesday night, setting up a Division III title game against second-seeded Nevada Union.

Ripon High celebrated homecoming Friday with a big win over visiting Orestimba. RHS — in no particular order — scored three touchdowns, came up with a safety, had an interception and recovered an on-side kick leading up to halftime, winning convincingly in Trans-Valley League action, 43-7.

Ripon Christian coach Kayla Kootstra knows when to call a timeout. While the visiting sixth-seeded Knights won the first two sets 25-15, 25-13 against No. 3 Lathrop, Ripon Christian was floundering in the third set trailing 12-6 when Kootstra called a timeout.

The Manteca girls tennis team and Ripon boys and girls water polo squads will get to host first-round contests in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs next week.

Anna Dittman completed her Valley Oak League triple crown Wednesday at Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon.

The Ripon Christian Knights looked impressive in their Sac Joaquin Section Division III playoff opening-round match Tuesday night, jumping on a game East Union Lancers side en route to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-16 straight-set victory to advance to the second round.

Cameron Seefeldt is headed back to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament.
