8/25 Tonto National Forest issued their final update on the Bluebird Fire Monday afternoon. The fire is 90% contained. At last report, the lighting sparked fire burned 300-acres northeast of Roosevelt Lake and Tonto Basin.

8/20 Tonto National Forest officials say crews are working 4 lightning caused fires. The Bluebird Fire is east of Punkin Center and has burned up to 300-acres with numerous resources working to contain it. Three other fires are burning in the same general area. The Maxgold Fire is contained at less than an acre. The Pear Fire is 50% contained at less than an acre and the Cane Fire is 3-acres and 0% contained. The 3-smaller fires are burning.
Roosevelt aims to be equal parts neighborhood hangout, listening bar and dance club, with a few nods to FilmBar.
8/07 There was a drowning at Roosevelt Lake last Sunday night. Gila County Sheriff’s officials say the drowning occurred across from Cholla Bay. An individual jumped off a boat into the lake to cool off. The person began to struggle, went under the water, and never resurfaced. Divers arrived on Monday and have been searching the area all week. Thursday, a boater found the victim floating in the water. The victim is identified as 37-year-old Ruperto Cervantes of Tucson. His body was turned over
The body of Ruperto Cervantes, 37, was found on Aug. 6, four days after a 911 call indicated he jumped from a boat into the water and did not resurface.
