Former Homer resident, Peter (Richard) Lindsley Thielke died April 25, 2026 in Ojai, CA following a year-long battle with bile duct cancer. Peter was born January 17, 1948 in Sitka, AK, and lived in Homer for over 20 years between the late 1970’s and late 1990’s.

Officials said in a statement that research staff were capturing and collaring brown bears at Redoubt Lake when the drowning occurred.

The PHS Cross Country team had their first meet of the season this past weekend in Sitka, culminating in a strong outing.
