The Fairhope City Council unanimously approved a privately funded plan to relocate the historic 100-year-old Tolstoy Park “hermit hut” to the Flying Creek Nature Preserve, where supporters hope the landmark will gain greater visibility and long-term preservation.

With his father in attendance in Fairhope, Bo Bryan threw three long touchdown passes in the win.

Luke Bryan spent the afternoon in Fairhope before heading to Charlotte, N.C., for a Saturday concert.

Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan said survey results show overwhelming opposition to creating a city school system but predicted the issue will likely return in the future. The results also come after a tense meeting earlier this week.

The show of support for remaining within the Baldwin County School System came during the first of three public meetings to discuss whether Fairhope should pursue its own school district.

A 100-year-old concrete dome could be on the move to the Flying Creek Nature Preserve once the Fairhope City Council gives the project the OK. That vote could come on Aug. 24.

Trey Garner led the Fairhope football team to the second round of the playoffs in 2025 and the basketball team to the final four.
